In brief
Bans practising accounting and auditing without a licence, and sets the certified accountant's duties, liability, sanctions and offences, replacing the Certified Accountants Law of 1412H.
Summary of the law
Penalties
- Up to five years' imprisonment and SAR 2 million, or either, for false information to obtain a licence, holding oneself out as licensed, false statements or concealment in a report, or certifying an untrue report (Article 10).
Practical tip
- Check the accountant's licence before engaging them to audit financial statements; a report by an unlicensed person carries no weight.
